D&D 201: How to Be a Dungeon Master! Choose, Prep and Run D&D Campaigns

  • Upstairs at Bow 1 Bow Market Way Somerville, MA, 02143 United States (map)

Grab your notebook, your battlemap, your terrain and your minis: you're running a D&D campaign!

Come hang out with two local pro DMs who will demystify running Dungeons & Dragons campaigns in a supportive, fun and inclusive environment. No prior DM experience necessary!

Over the course of this session you'll discuss:

  • Published modules vs. homebrew campaigns,

  • Using maps and minis vs. running things in the "theater of the mind,"

  • Party communication and the importance of "safety tools,"

  • How to prep for a campaign at the macro scale vs. a session at the micro scale, and

  • What the heck are monster stat blocks anyway?!

Get your tickets here.

About your dungeon masters:

Caroline (she/her) is an avid fantasy fan, and will devour it in any form: books, RPGs, movies, etc. She’s been playing and DMing D&D for about 7 years, and is passionate about making the game accessible to everyone. She's also big into indie tabletop RPGs, and will talk your ear off about everything from the Jane Austen-inspired "Good Society" to the brilliantly straightforward "Thirsty Sword Lesbians." Follow @sidequestbooks on Instagram to see where the Side Quest will be popping up next.

Danger Wizard (aka Allan, he/him) is a full time Dungeon Master, long-time Somerville resident and lifelong fan of Magic, Warhammer, Lord of the Rings and D&D. He has run RPGs for new and old players alike for almost a decade, and loves bringing people from all backgrounds together around a table for an evening of laughs and adventure. He believes in the importance of connection through gaming and community while also taking risks in a safe environment and being silly with your friends.
