If you’ve ever sported a t-shirt supporting a local business or event, odds are high that it was printed by Peter Rinnig at QRST’s. Peter and his wife Ruth have been screen printing and embroidering shirts, totes, and hats (you name it!) in the Square for the past 20 years. Tell us a little bit about QRST's!
QRST’s offers custom screen printing, embroidery and digital printing. We are a local family-owned business located in Union Square since 2002. We can embellish from one piece to thousands of pieces.
What inspired you to start a business? How did this feeling grow once you actually started your business?
QRST’s started in 1989 in Central Square, Cambridge and I bought it in 2002. When I bought the company I moved it to Union Square (first on Allen St, then Windsor St). I have always been fascinated by screen printing and apparel decoration and the idea of having your custom image printed on hundreds of shirts to be seen by everyone.
What aspect of your business makes you most proud to be a business leader in our community?
We have a lot of local Somerville-based businesses as our customers (Union Square Main Streets included!) and over time I have become friends with the owners.
How do you #LoveUnionSquare?
I love the amazing local businesses!! Even with all the development going on, Union Square has a lot of independent local shops.
