Lakou Mizik from Haiti returns to the Center for Arts at the Armory for another mystical, soulful, dance party inducing live show.
Lakou Mizik is a powerhouse collective of Haitian roots music with an energy and a mix of styles that feels ethereal and familiar at the same time. The band came together in the wake of the 2010 earthquake that devastated Haiti to show the world that their country was much more than the sum of headlines that were being shot around the globe, and that message is even more relevant today. Their latest album, “Leave the Bones,” is a ground-breaking collaboration between the multigenerational Lakou Mizik and Grammy-winning electronic musician Joseph Ray. Their album “HaitiaNola,” celebrating the shared cultural roots of Haiti and New Orleans with noted guests including the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, will also surely get you in the mood for this not-to-be-missed concert.
Today, with their positive messages and roots revival music, they have become one of Haiti’s hottest exports and have gained an international following with their critically acclaimed debut album “Wa Di Yo.”
Experience Lakou Mizik on November 15! Doors open at 7:00 PM, the concert will start at 8:00 PM.
Tickets purchased for Lakou Mizik are non-refundable. All sales are final.
