As a believer in celebrating all of life’s big and small moments, Brooke Wamanga, owner and lead stylist of Confetti Friends, brought her bright ideas and bright balloons to Union in September 2021 and has been celebrating with you ever since.
Tell us a little about your business!
Confetti Friends is a balloon decor specialist serving Somerville, greater Boston and beyond. We use high-quality, natural latex balloons to construct eye-catching creations for all types of celebrations and events. We make custom backdrops, organic garlands, classic balloon columns, and Grab&Go products—our bespoke balloons are perfect for any celebration. We can deliver and install for you or have something ready for you to pick up!
What inspired you to start a business? How did this feeling grow once you actually started your business?
I started Confetti Friends during the COVID-19 pandemic after leaving my 20+ year career as a preschool teacher to stay home with my young children. I missed interacting with other humans, collaborating on projects, and being creative and saw how much joy balloons brought to others! Starting Confetti Friends allowed me to connect with others in the community, work with my hands and create fun, one of a kind projects.
As Confetti Friends has grown, I’m so thankful for all the people that continue to invite me back each year to celebrate and bring their party visions to life!
What aspect of your business makes you most proud to be a business leader in our community?
I love all the relationships that I have built over the years with individuals, families, and businesses through balloons! It’s really special to be a part of life’s milestones and celebrations, no matter how big or small. Working with balloons has allowed me to channel my creativity, mix in my passion for parties, and make people smile.
How do you #LoveUnionSquare?
There are so many great things about Union Square, but I have to say all the fun events like Fluff Fest, The Holiday Stroll, and PorchFest are my favorite part! I went to the very first Fluff Fest and haven’t missed one yet!
If you were to plan the perfect outing in Union Square, where would you go and what would you do?
I’d do a little shopping at Bow Market, eat dinner at El Potro or The Independent, and have some after-dinner drinks at backbar.
Is there anything else you think a Square customer would like to know?
I really can help you celebrate anything! I have done balloons for liver conventions, Mario Kart tournaments, pet funerals, and birthdays of all ages (even 28 and a half)!
