A Letter from the Principal of Centrepoint Architects
Published June 2019
Hello Union Square neighbors & fellow business owners!
Mark and I moved to Brickbottom in 1999 with our first two dogs, and have loved watching the transformation of Union Square and Somerville ever since!
I established Centrepoint Architects in 2001, and haven't looked back. Initially based in a Brickbottom loft, we moved to the Taza Chocolate building in 2011. Being a part of the strong community of these buildings and Union Square has resulted in longtime friends and colleagues.
Centrepoint's focus is both commercial and residential. Although our projects take us all over New England, recently a majority of our work is in greater Boston area and Somerville. One of my favorite projects is the renovation of the Bow Street Police Station into condos with Moda Architects and Urbanica. I love that every project has its own flavor and challenges.
When I'm not building, I'm usually out volunteering– Fluff Festival hawking USMS wares, river control committee for Head of the Charles regatta, neighborhood cleanups, or taking part in the many events around the Square and City.
I look forward to many years ahead of spending time with everyone in the Square!

Fun fact: as a small child on our farm in North Dakota, I played outside building dirt roads, bridges, overpasses, houses, and buildings. At that time, we didn't have a television and lived nowhere near a city. To this day, I don't know where I got the idea that I wanted to build all these tall things.
