Longtime Square business Amazônia Insurance Agency is not just an insurance agency—it’s a one-stop-shop for Union Square newcomers as they acclimate to life in Somerville and the US. Drawing from his father’s precedent, Amazônia’s VP Enzo Sá, his two brothers, and their multilingual staff provide essential resources to their clients.

Tell us a little about your business!

We are a local agency that has been in Union Square for 32 years! We specialize in Commercial and Personal property & casualty insurance. We also help people who are moving from out of state transfer their insurance and plates to Massachusetts.

All our staff are fluent Portuguese and Spanish speakers. We are a proud multiracial company that helps immigrants of all kinds get adjusted to living in the United States.

What inspired you to start a business? How did this feeling grow once you actually started your business?

My father opened Amazônia in 1993. As an immigrant himself he saw the need for our services in Union Square. That need has not gone away—I now run the business with my two brothers. We aspire to continue to provide the best service and educate our clients in the ways of insurance to the best of our ability.

What aspect of your business makes you most proud to be a business leader in our community?

Seeing the happiness on peoples faces when you solve a problem that no one else was able to solve. A lot of immigrants and locals alike are never correctly taught the ins and outs of insurance. We strive to be a beacon of knowledge for them.

We insure the majority of business in Union Square and hope to continue to do so in the future.

There is no better community in Mass, maybe even the United States!

If you were to plan the perfect outing in Union Square, where would you go and what would you do?

Doughnuts at Union Square Donuts, followed by some Pisco Sours at celeste, followed by a tiger roll at Ebi Sushi.

Is there anything else you think a Square customer would like to know?

We have PHYSICAL license plates in our office and can act as a branch of the RMV so our clients never need to go to the Registry ever again!
