The Revolutionary Snake Ensemble is a costumed funk/street beat improvisational brass band performing a unique blend of original and traditional music.”Led by Ken Field, an alto saxophonist and flutist, this Boston-area band puts a premium on Mardi Gras-style rhythm … pursues a sinuous, writhing counterpoint, in ways that justify the band’s name.”[New York Times]
Their latest release, Live Snakes, was an Editor’s Pick in Downbeat Magazine. The New Orleans magazine Offbeat called Live Snakes “a stone cold killer diller!”, adding that “most bands can’t get the New Orleans stuff right, but the Revolutionary Snake Ensemble is one of the few who does and then takes it in fascinating directions.” For this performance the group will be joined by a very special surprise guest.
