When Geri Reischl heard that the Sherman Cafe was going to be serving up a Fake Jan Breakfast Sandwich (it’s vegan!) as part of their Brady Brunch the morning of the Fluff Festival she couldn’t resist. She called up owner Karyn Coughlin and said, “I’m flying in.”
She’ll be at the Union Square cafe on Saturday, September 24 for the Brady Brunch. Word has it that if you order the fake jan sandwich the real Fake Jan will bring it to your table!

Don’t know your Brady Brunch lore? Eve Plumb played the role of Jan Brady on the sitcom The Brady Bunch. After the series was cancelled television executives schemed up the idea of a variety hour featuring the singing and dancing Bradys. Eve Plumb chose not to participate so Geri Reischl, a decent enough ringer for Eve, was cast in the role. In true television fashion, there was no attention paid to the switch. Some fans felt betrayed, but in the warm glow of nostalgia, the Fake Jan has been embraced as one of the beloved clan.
